The Day I Was Featured On America's Most Wanted

I can't believe this happened to me. At midnight Saturday, December 6th I was having a nice conversation with Marshall as I was folding laundry. Suddenly the doorbell rang. I thought it was Harriet and that maybe she lost her key or something. I flipped on the light and standing there were about six federal marshals at my door, badges and all of them armed, the other four marshals had billy clubs in hand. My heart started beating a million miles an hour. The main guy says, "maam, I'm Federal marshal so and so and we'd like to talk to you, will you please let us come in? We have some questions to ask you. My first thought was, "oh, what did my business partner do, given the circumstances we were in at the time," then I thought, "has Kirk been living a double life?" then the agent said "You were featured on Americas Most Wanted this evening, do you watch the program?" I said "no". "How many children do you have? I said "6 but I have one extra tonight, he's a cousin". How long have you lived at this address?" I said "about 5 years". "I swear I haven't hurt anybody!" While this was going on, I told Marshall to run upstairs and get his dad. Marshall ran back downstairs and said that his dad didn't believe him and won't come downstairs. I said, "Marshall, tell dad there are six cops down here", the federal marshal broke in and said, "tell him there are 12 marshals here and maam, you may want to get dressed, there may be some media following us". I didn't even hear him say that I was too focused on getting Kirk to come downstairs. I continued to say "tell dad I need him". Marshall came back downstairs and said "dad, still doesn't believe me, mom". So by that time Maggie was up and had heard what was going on and told her dad to get downstairs because they were going to haul mom off to jail.

After the federal marshal got answers to a few questions, he told me that someone turned me in as a possible suspect of a lady that had abducted her three step children and two of her own and has been missing since 2005. He went on to say that her kids are about the same ages as my kids and when they get a tip like this, they have to move quickly.

When Kirk finally came downstairs they hauled him off into another room to question him. Then they questioned Marshall, Maggie and Ally. They asked for my drivers license, my kids names and dates of birth and realized they didn't have the right woman. The gal they were after had blonde hair, kind of plump and had five kids.

We looked it up on the internet after the marhals left and read the story. There was a picture of the woman and Marshall says, "mom, you're a lot cuter than her." I thought that was so sweet. I guess a neighbor or someone that doesn't know me real well gave them my address.

The other six marshals had my house surrounded in case I tried to escape. Marshall saw them at each of the back doors and he says he thinks there were two at the garage because Kayla was barking like crazy plus the marshal mentioned there were twelve of them. Kinda freaky huh? The link below is the story about the women. Tawynia Brown.

My kids were quite excited, to say the least. Maggie and I sat on the stairs and laughed histercally for a 1/2 hour while we calmed down . Kirk had already gone back to bed. What a night ! The kids can't wait for "show and tell" at school.

Marshall's 11th Birthday!

Oh.... my sweet baby boy is growing up. We celebrated Marshall's 11th Birthday on November 25th. He is such precious person. I love to hear him laugh. I have to admit, even if he is laughing at something he probably shouldn't laugh at, I really have to hold back, because his laughter is so addicting.
Marshall and I have had some great times together. We are very close and I am so greatful for him. He is unique and fun to be with. Most people that meet Marshall are always full of compliments about his personality and what a good kid he is.

I am so greatful he loves me. We cuddle often and I am thankful to God for his health and for blessing me with such a wonderful child.

I am reminded often how much he is like his father George. Sometimes the way he smiles, his good sense of humor and just the way he stands up tall. He even holds his head up high... a mirror image of his dad. He also has that great smile and bright eyes and is very optimistic.

I've included some recent pictures from his birthday and some pictures of when he was just a baby. What a Blessing!

Congratulations! Holley and Roger

Holley Freeman is now Mrs. Roger Fellows. They got married on November 3 in the Salt Lake Temple and had a wonderful dinner at the Joseph Smith Building to celebrate with family and friends. Holley asked me to take some pictures at the dinner and I was happy to do so. I wish Holley and Roger a wonderful and fulfilling life together!

Our Trip To Zion

I haven't been very consistant at keeping up with my blog and was reminded last night by my sister. I have some catching up to do...
I would like to start with the wonderful trip that our family took down at Zions National Park. Now, I was born and raised in Utah and how it happened I don't know but this was the first time I have been to this beautiful Park. We took all the kids and stayed in a wonderful hotel that fed us a complete breakfast each morning. I think eating out is our kids' favorite part about going out of t0wn. We stayed two nights and three days.

The day we went to Zions, I had no idea how beautiful the fall leaves would be. The leaves in the mountains close to our home had already fallen, so I consider ourselves blessed to visit Zions at such a beautiful time of year.

The kids were impressed with the mile long tunnel. When we got to the end of the tunnel there were lots of cars off to the side of the road with some people standing with their cameras in hand, all pointing in the same direction. Of coarse, I yell for Kirk to pull over. We saw five big horn sheep with the most beautiful back drop. I shot quite a few photos but will just post my favorite.

Zions is a great back drop for any photo so I was very happy to have my new camera and by the end of the trip the kids were quite sick of getting out of the car so mom could shoot another family picture. I posted my favorite family shots.

The 2nd night the kids were excited to go play at the Fun Zone which was located close to our hotel. I actually ran into a co-worker from Bullfrog at the Fun Zone. Kinda weird. Anyway, we had a good time playing video games and hitting softballs at the batting cages. My kids are great little hitters. It was fun.

Holly's getting married!

The girls and I went to Holly's wedding shower. She is getting married next Saturday! We had a good time with Mom, Holly, Kirsten and the girls. Holly is a sweetheart and I am so excited for her.

Sharon's Kids

Sharon (my long time friend) asked me to take pictures of her cute kids. They were so cooperative and photogenic. Wow! what beautiful kids she has. Austin has been on a football team and his sister Hannah and a group of her friends are the teams cheerleaders. Fun!

Scouting for Elk

On Sunday our family went hunting/scouting for elk up near Strawberry and Current Creek. The closest we came to seeing an elk was the dead ones at other camps. We saw six all together. At least we know there are some up there....or maybe not. They all might be dead now. There were a couple of live doe in a farmers field. It was a beautiful drive and we had a good time.
On our way home I spotted this Falcon watching his prey. I was able to snap a few pictures until he quickly went after a rodent on the ground near him.

Rob's Surprise 50th Birthday Party

We had a 50th Birthday party for my brother-in-law Rob. It was fun and there were lots of people. It was a surpise. Rob thought he was going to someone elses birthday party. Here's a couple of cute pictures of the night.

My New Camera

I love my new camera! I went out the other day for a few minutes. I wished I'd had more time because it was so beautiful in the mountains. Anyway, I spent 45 minutes just shooting a variety of things of nature. I didn't get to shoot a waterfall so the running water in the river had to do. My goal was to learn how to shoot running water that would look soft and flowing. I think I did it!

Deer Hunt

Kirk was excited today because he saw a deer, a two pointer. He thought it was to small to shoot. A few seconds later he saw another one following the first one only this time it was a four pointer and they were moving! He got his gun ready and said his hands were shaking because of the rush. Then suddenly another one appeared...even bigger! a FIVE pointer! The adrenalin was so strong he could hardly keep his hands still enough to aim. The deer were moving too fast to get in a shot! You can bet where those boys are headed the next time they go.

Funny Little Ally

Yesterday morning I was getting ready for work and telling the kids how my work is going to have a contest for the "Biggest Loser" and that I am going to participate. Ally says, "mom, me and Jaiden can help you, we'll dress up in really funky clothes and go to work with you to make you look more like a loser. You will probably win!". Little did she know the that the "Biggest Loser" is program on television for weight loss. It cracked me up. She is always so sweet!

The Big Hunt

This morning the boys (Kirk, Bridger and Brady) left to go hunting. Brady was so excited he could hardly sleep. I talked a million miles an hour last night and woke up this morning before the alarm went off at 4a.m. He loves to be with his dad. It will be exciting if they get an Elk or a Deer. Don't know what to do with the thing if they do. Kirk was super excited to go. I hope they have a good time and pray that they are safe.

Post Zermatt

Kirk and I had a wonderful time on our trip. It was relaxing and romantic. I got to see my good friend Audra whom I haven't seen in four years. We enjoyed the visit. Kirk and I took a drive up through Mirror Lake and Wyoming. It was really fun and we got to scout areas where he is going to go on his elk hunt. He's excited to shoot an Elk. Oh boy!

In Memory of Ruth & George

Today I'm sad to say that my mother-in-law has left us. I can just imagine George's (her son's) arms wide open to welcome her to her heavenly home. They had a special relationship and I'm sure he has her laughing by now. Over the last 5 years we did not get to spend a whole lot of time with Grandma Blessing. The kids would see her occasionally but she was sick a lot. Fortunatly we did get to see her about 5 days before she died. The kids got to tell her that they loved her and hoped that she would get better. Marshall whispered in her ear that she was going to make it. He was hopeful. God had different plans for her and she was needed in heaven. Grandpa Blessing died last year. We will miss both of them.

Wow the mountains!

It's been awhile since I've smelled the fresh air of pines and aspens. A few of the kids and I ran up to the mountains for a short time to walk around and for mom to have subjects to shoot with her new camera. The kids had fun posing and running around. They thanked me several times on the way home....Cheap entertainment? We had a good time and it's always nice to get some fresh air and be in God's creation.

Going out of town

Today Kirk and I are leaving to go to Zermatt in Heber City. It's a spa resort and we are excited. We haven't had a vacation away for some time. We are planning on eating the great food they make up there and getting some steam and suana room time. Plus time alone...
